The dreamers’ herb — digestive bitters, menstrual regulation, and vivid dreaming from one of Europe's most ancient and mystical herbs.

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is one of the oldest known medicinal plants — used by the Anglo-Saxons as a protective herb, by Chinese medicine practitioners in moxibustion, and by European herbalists for centuries as a bitter digestive tonic and emmenagogue. Rich in volatile oils, sesquiterpene lactones, and flavonoids, it stimulates digestion, regulates menstruation, and is renowned in herbalism for its ability to enhance dream vividness and lucid dreaming when drunk before sleep.

Key Benefits
Digestive bitters & appetite · Menstrual regulation · Nervous system tonic · Vivid & lucid dreaming · Anti-inflammatory · Moxibustion (TCM)

How to Use
Steep 1 tsp dried mugwort in 250ml hot water for 5–10 mins. Drink before meals for digestion, or 1 cup before bed for dream enhancement. Bitter, aromatic, slightly sage-like flavour. Use in moderation — 1–2 cups daily. Often combined with valerian or passionflower for sleep and dream blends.

When to Expect Results
Digestive & appetite stimulation: within days · Menstrual regulation: 1–2 cycles · Dream enhancement: often within the first few nights of use.

Who It's For
• Digestive weakness & poor appetite
• Irregular or suppressed menstruation
• Dream enhancement & lucid dreaming
• Nervous system toning
• TCM moxibustion practice

Who Should Avoid
• Pregnant — strong emmenagogue; avoid entirely
• Ragweed or Asteraceae allergy — significant cross-reactivity risk
• Epilepsy — thujone content; avoid
• On anticoagulants — may interact
• Do not exceed recommended doses — thujone is toxic in excess
