Hops (Humulus Lupulus)
The sleep flower — sedation, anxiety relief, and nervous system calm from the same hop cone that brews your beer.
Hops (Humulus lupulus) are best known as the bittering agent in beer — but long before brewing, they were prized by European herbalists as one of the most reliable sedative and nervine plants available. The female flowers (strobiles) contain methylbutenol and humulone, which act directly on GABA receptors in the brain to induce calm, reduce anxiety, and promote deep, restful sleep — often described as a gentle but effective natural sedative.
